Build Your Own Earrings
Start with a base...
Next add a lozenge...
Then add a Disc...
The Earring Project.
The Earring Project has the word “project” in its name for a reason: We never intended for it to be finished.
It began, as many things here do, with an obsession and quite a bit of misdirection. At one point (very early on) there were earrings that looked like tiny light bulbs and actually unscrewed. Eventually, we arrived at the idea that has remained constant ever since: an earring should not have to be just one earring.
The Earring Project is a system. You begin with a Base, add a Lozange, and change it depending on your mood, what you’re wearing, where you’re going or simply because you feel like it.
And now there is Donut, which complicated things in the best possible way.
Donut is a Lock with a Lever, but it also has a retractable stem that allows it to be worn as an earring. It can also hold pieces from the Earring Project and allow them to be worn elsewhere — including on a necklace, much like our Working Dot.
In other words, Donut gave our earrings an entirely new life. And once that happened, it seemed like the right moment to revisit the Earring Project itself.
So we did.
