I hope this note finds you well...enjoying Fall...my absolute favorite time of year in New York. It's been a minute and I have lots of things to discuss with you.

I had a problem I’ve faced as a woman with long hair. It’s serious so buckle in. It’s the hair band situation. The one that I’m always wearing on my wrist just in case I need to “throw it up” and if you’ve got long hair you’ve been there with me. In my case (and yours too I've observed) there was a zealously curated stack of bracelets with a hair band nestled in. And I don't care who you are. I have literally observed royalty with hairbands on their wrists.

This kept me up at night more than it should have given the state of the world. Until I realized that like most things, Locks are the solution. No seriously. Locks on hairbands. But not just any hairband. One we’ve designed to accommodate all our Locks. It took a while and many trips to trimming shops and drug store hair aisles until I realized exactly what we needed to make but by god I think we’ve got it. And they are called Thingys (it’s fitting right?) and the eagle eyes among you will see I have been wearing mine for months in my hair, on my wrist and even on my neck. I hope you will too.

Despina, our fabulous Showroom Director, brought to my attention that I spend so much time running around to our stores in the Fall that I neglect the place that I love most, which is our showroom. So this year I have 2 days where I will be in the showroom all day and they are Wednesday, October 30th and Wednedsay, December 18th. Hopefully I will see you. While I always try to pop in when I'm here, on these specific days I'll be there all day so, please book and I'll see you soon!

Our Anza Gem Charms are back–thank goodness. These little drops of deliciousness come and go quickly. Like all our charms they swivel–so no “back or front” because we’ve added a corresponding color so no front or back, party all around. See which ones are still available here and if you keep loving them, we’ll make more. And if their scrumptiousness was not reason enough to buy them, let me tell you a bit about Anza’s important work. The gem trade has not always been an equitable place for women miners. Anza works with groups of women artisanal gem miners and their male allies in Tanzania and Kenya to track precious stones from miner to market. Their work empowers women miners to work safely and mine better, improving financial security and creating stable, equitable markets for fair trade. We buy the stones from Anza and have them cut by a woman stone cutter in the US so the entire project is fueled with this excellent spirit.

If you’ve found your way to our website or our social media over the past week or so you will have noticed that we have debuted some new creative. This is the brainchild of a very dear friend of mine, Pierre Marchal. Pierre is an art director whose work is a veritable who’s who of the fashion luxury world. About 10 years ago when I was still sitting alone in my house trying to figure out how to make people see what I saw with our jewelry…that it may not look quite like jewelry but it is in fact jewelry, Pierre reposted one of the images of one of our Locks and I was positively dumbstruck. A friendship ensued and finally we managed a project together and this is it. Pierre suggested that we make the jewelry do more but in a surrealistic sort of way…and this is that. More jewelry that works.So yes. It’s jewelry. It’s not jewelry. It’s what you want it to be. Do whatever you want with it. Thank you Pierre…

I always struggle with whether these emails are boring, invasive or both. But yet on the other hand I had the audacity to start a substack last week. What more could I possibly say? What even is a substack? I have no idea but you can sign up for it here and we can uncover its mysteries together.
