Here’s the recipe with our tweaks--a little "idiot-proof" gift from us to you to share with the ones you love or even just like a lot:
SEA SALT BUTTER CAKE
1 and 1/2 cups butter (3 sticks) — Please use the best butter you can buy (unsalted)
1 8oz package of Philadelphia Cream Cheese
3 cups sugar
6 large eggs
4 generous tablespoons of the best vanilla extract you can find (it matters!)
3 cups flour
1 scant teaspoon of Maldon Sea Salt (this matters too!)
Preheat oven to 325°F. Butter and flour a heavy bundt pan (buy a good one; you'll have it forever). Mix butter and cream cheese together until fluffy. Add sugar and beat for a full 5 minutes until fluffier. Add the eggs, one by one. Add the vanilla, flour, and sea salt all at once, and mix until just combined. Pour into the pan and bake for 80 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean. Add powdered sugar if you like, or glaze it, or eat it as is.
