Thereâs a lot going on here... so weâll begin with the passage. Hand engraved and hidden on the inside âšof this bracelet as it reads:
ââWould you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?â
âThat depends a good deal on where you want to get to,â said the Cat.
âI donât much care whereââ said Alice.
âThen it doesnât matter which way you go,â said the Cat. ââso long as I get somewhere,â Alice added as an explanation.
âOh, youâre sure to do that,â said the Cat, âif you only walk long enough.â
âIn that direction,â the Cat said, waving its right paw round, âlives a Hatter: and in that direction,â waving the other paw, âlives a March Hare. Visit either you like: theyâre both mad.â
âBut I donât want to go among mad people,â Alice remarked.
âOh, you canât help that,â said the Cat: âweâre all mad here. Iâm mad. âšYouâre mad.â
The Alice in Wonderland DiMe bracelet is a celebration of Charles Lutwidge Dodsonâs aka Lewis Carrollâs childrenâs classic. The outside is hand engraved with original lithographs from the story (A cheshire cat. A Queen of Hearts. âšA bottle that says Drink Me. A cookie that says Eat Me.). In the story, Alice enters another world and the passage engraved on the inside is one that we think is a pretty poignant commentary on life. It is a little âcrazyâ that we fit the passage in its entirety on the inside of this DiMe Bracelet, which is why this piece took close to a year to make.Â
This is a different kind of storytelling that is unique and worth it.Â
