Build Your Own Talking Chains
While Talking Chains and Talking Chaincharms don't actually talk, you can say pretty much whatever you want with them, and they will sit on your neck on your wrist, and quietly but smashingly, say something.
It is one big game of Scrabble, fridge poetry, Bananagrams—you get it.
We cannot wait to see what you come up with.
The premise for Talking Chains was it all had to move together, which is why we developed a joint system that allows for each character to move independently and with the chain. In gold or silver or combinations of both. Then we introduced Talking Chaincharms
What is a Talking Chaincharm?
It is not quite a chain. It is not quite a charm. It is a #chaincharm.
Quite simply, we added loops to both ends of your chosen characters—letters, gemstones, and the like—so they can be worn with all of your jewelry.
Use a Lock to complete the chain. Dangle one Chaincharm from a Lock. Dangle several. Wear it as a charm, a connector, a message, or something we have not thought of yet.
This is really just the next step in our ongoing quest to help you say—and do—more with Talking Chains.
Warning: Once you start playing Talking Chains...it's hard to stop (talking).
Step One: Choose your style.
Necklace, Bracelet of Chaincharm? Chain or no chain? It's a choose your own adventure situation. If you choose Chaincharm proceed to step number 3.
Step Two: Choose a chain.
Blackened silver Biker Chain? Rose Gold Heavy Curb Chain? Choose which style chain you like the most. Then pick your length (the total length you'd like your Talking Chain to be)—we'll do the Letters vs Chain length math for you!
Step Three: What will you say?
Whether you are choosing a Talking Chain or a Talking Chaincharm, the world is your oyster. Say something silly, symbolic, sentimental, or naughty. If you want to say something that exceeds 10 characters, like Marla's Talking Chaincharm that says, "I am uninterested in logic," or her Talking Chain (pictured here) that says "It is what it is,"— email us at info@marlaaron.com.

Step Four: Add a Lock or two (if you don't already have some).
Like all of our chains, Talking Chains must be closed with a Lock. Talking Chaincharms will require two Locks to attach to our chains with loops. Some of our favorite Locks to pair with Talking Chains and Talking Chaincharms are tinier Locks like the Micro Babylock, the Baby Heartlock, the Baby Droplock, and, of course, the classic Babylock.

FAQ
What should I say?
Names, obviously. Initials. A birth year. A street number. A word that means something only to two people. We have made all of these and we have made stranger.
Can I mix metals?
Mixing is not a compromise, it is a choice, and we build it that way on purpose. Gold, silver, or both. Characters in gold on a silver chain read louder than either one alone.
How many letters can I use?
You can begin with a minimum of two characters. You can only do a maximum of 10 characters on our website, however you can email info@marlaaaron.com if you'd like to exceed that. Our customer service team can help you.
Do all the Locks work with Talking Chains and Talking Chaincharms?
Yes! While nearly all of our Locks work, we always recommend starting with one of our many Babylocks.
Why does every character move?
Talking Chains is the culmination of a year-long project where we wanted to incorporate words and symbols and numbers into a chain. We challenged ourselves with the notion that all the characters had to move precisely like the chain so no mobility or function would be lost. (If you think of a standard name tag necklace, the characters are immobile. Same with an ID bracelet.)
