"…It started quite simply as me being completely starstruck and overwhelmed at the possibility of Instagram—the sharing of ideas and yes...colors. I was able to share how I think about colors through a series of images I called #colordecoding. Then we somehow realized it was even more fun to ask you to join the conversation. Show us your favorite color we would ask, tell us something about it, name it. The responses were so damn beautiful as a whole. The poetry of your entries always moves us—how an old workshop table splattered with paint becomes Lawrence, named after a beloved woodworking grandfather, peche, the precise highest expression of a summer peach. And all the entries really. If only we could make them all..... #tellmeacolor"

"When I was younger my dad would always ask me to help out in our garage. He learned a bunch of woodworking skills from my grandfather, which he put to practice every weekend. If you were to walk into my childhood home, spin around, and point; you’d probably be pointing at something my dad had built. When we were working in the garage, he would have me sit on this big white stool (now covered in paint) given to him by my grandfather. Being a curious child, I would ask him where each color had come from. Of course, he could not give me any real answer, because of how many projects he, and his father, had completed. I would sit think about how each spot represented a different completed project. They overlap, and individually, may not seem as special, but as a whole they represent a lot of hard work and many fond memories.
I would call this color Lawrence (my dad’s name)"
"Barbara Streisand summed it up best when she sang:
'Ooh, life is juicy
Juicy, and you see--I gotta have my bite, sir!'
Peaches are oh so juicy! Full of life!
(Fun fact: In China, the peach is a symbol of longevity and immortality.)
The colors of a peach also remind me of joy, summertime, femininity, and sensuality. So beautiful. I'm obsessed!!"
