Hug a daddy and buy him some jewelry.

Hello,

I hope this finds you and yours well. Father’s Day is upon us. Let’s talk about men in jewelry.

I have always stood by the idea that jewelry has no gender, and even delineating jewelry “for women” or “for men” feels archaic. But hard working jewelry feels right for anyone.

It’s interesting the novelty we ascribe to “men wearing pearls” when in just a simple Google search we can see historically how important pearls have been for men in their wardrobes in many places.

Most recently, Ryan Reynolds nearly broke the internet when he appeared at a premier wearing pearls (ours with one of our Locks actually–thank you.)

Here are some more things we think would be wonderful for dads worn with pearls or chains or any which way they (or you) choose.

A Moonlock–any of them but in particular a Surface of the Moonlock…rugged and function in one object. Or simply one that states “Fly Me to the Moon”....

The silver Regular Lock with a Mega curb bracelet is weighty and beautiful and only gets more beautiful with age–also great to borrow… again…this jewelry is for anyone at any time.

Buffed Hematite strands were one of the original pieces in the first collection that we put out and it remains one of our most popular. For everyone.
The hematite when buffed is a beautiful foil for any metal Lock and worn as a necklace or wrapped as a bracelet is warm in the winter and feels cool against the skin in the summer.

Finally our Fordite Lock. It’s made of discarded paint from automotive factories.
We are particular about our Fordite and particularly like to source 70s -80s Fordite for the incredible color mix.

This Lock screams something nostalgic but also something modern–the idea of using something discarded to make something new and lasting–the very essence of a special gift.

Will you cook for your father or the father figure you live with on Father’s Day? Perhaps… If so may I suggest vegetables and in particular may I suggest making him a sliced Portobello mushroom sandwich that tastes enchantingly like a BLT?

I’m not much for sharing recipes because I don’t follow them at all but here’s the gist of it:

  • Slice the mushrooms thinly.
  • Marinate briefly in olive oil, garlic, paprika, soy sauce
  • Bake in the oven at 400 watching closely until they crisp
  • Pile onto a delicious bun with mayonnaise sliced summer tomatoes and lettuce.
  • Serve with slaw…..

Anyway, hug your dad or a dad.

Warmest,
Marla
