The guide to it all.
Welcome. We're glad you're here.
If this is your first visit, you’re in the right place. Our jewelry is designed as a system, where locks, chains, charms can be mixed, matched, and layered to create something entirely your own. This guide is here to help you navigate the essentials, understand how our pieces work together, and explore each category with confidence. Whether you’re building your first piece or discovering new ways to personalize your collection, consider this your starting point.
Start with a Lock.
The Locks were the original concept for the entire collection. Once Marla realized that she could morph the shape of a hardware store carabiner in a myriad of ways, the collection became a reality. People often ask her which one is the one to own and she honestly can't say. They are all solid and strong and crafted by hand and can be worn in infinite ways.
Next, choose a chain.
Here you will find a selection of chains at varying weights and lengths to customize your lock however you wish. When you choose your chain try and think about the different possible ways you may want to wear it. For example a 36” chain can double and in some cases triple around the neck and can even be worn as a bracelet. The world's your oyster...
Or, maybe you'd prefer some color?
Tone on Stone? Itty Bitty Strands? String Project? or Knot the String Project? These are our colorful pieces that can be worn in multiples or with our chains or simply on their own. It's a choose your own adventure of the most colorful sort.
Add a charm if you'd like.
We began making charms slowly, only adding them when we felt we had something interesting to contribute. Our charms defy categories, They swivel and are engravable. They realize their full potential when combined in a personal way. Choose one. Choose some.
Now let's talk about rings.
We make rings that have movement — rings that beg to be played with. Rings that click, roll, open and close. Rings you can engrave with personal messages or inside jokes. Some of our rings can be worn on your finger and then as a Lock on a chain.
Bracelets make a great starting point.
A “bracelet bonanza.” It just kind of stuck. Functional maximalism. Bracelets are often where it starts. Easy to put on, easy to live with, and surprisingly versatile once you spend time with them.
Are completed pieces more your speed?
We’ve taken some of our favorite Locks and Chains and put them together—because sometimes you just want to wear the thing and not think too much about it. But what looks like a completed necklace or bracelet is really just the beginning. These pieces are meant to be worn together or apart—mixed with what’s already in your jewelry box.
A place to keep your jewelry.
Jewelry’s only job is to give joy to people. Having a place for it to rest when it's not working is a good thing.
